The Dortmund | Cologne International Women's Film Festival 2013 is to present its International Feature Film Award for the fifth time. The aim of the award – which comes with prize money of €25,000 – is to honour the work of those women film-makers who have succeeded in continuing to produce fiction features that impress by way of content and style.

As ever, the prize money will be endowed by RWE Vertrieb AG, a power company. The prize will be split between the winning film director (€15,000) and the distribution company (€10,000) and so advance the promotion of such top-quality films on the cinema circuit in Germany.

The competition films provide a good cross-section of creativity by women film directors across the world. The award will be decided by an international jury.

The award is to be formally conferred at the official prize ceremony in the Dortmund U Arts Centre on 14 April.
