Germany 2006, 11' | Director, Screenplay Tania Parovic | Sound Ralf Schipke | Production, Distribution Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln

Tania Parovic's film Attentate links found footage of documented attacks, whose victims were not necessarily selected as private individuals but on the basis of their symbolic role as a public figure. The film is a series of sequences whose structures resemble one another by addressing aspects such as crime scene, motivation, speculation, media coverage and collective mourning. The serial concatenation has an almost model effect. Attacks that seemingly have nothing to do with one another end up interrelated, leaving an impression of exchangeability.

Tania Parovic was born 1977 in Aachen, Germany, and studied at the Academy of Arts in Maastricht, Netherlands. In 2002, she was awarded a B.A. in visual communication, partly on the strength of 0709. Between 2003 and 2006, she completed a postgraduate degree at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts. Attentate was her graduation piece for the Department of Media Design in 2006.
