The International Feature Film Award for Women Directors is being presented for the fifth time this year. Thanks to the financial support of RWE Vertrieb AG, a utilities company, one woman director will be singled out for work that continues to impress in terms of pioneering style and content.

Worth €25,000, the award will be decided by an international jury: Jocelyne Saab, the film director from Lebanon, the actress Marita Breuer and Marian Masone, the programming director at New York's Lincoln Centre.

The response to this year's call for entries has been larger than ever: around 100 new feature films from 50 countries were considered for the short list.  The competition films provide a good cross-section of creativity by women film directors across the world.
