Renowned actress Thelma Buabeng will present the Award Ceremony of the 37. International Women's Film Festival on 29th March at Filmforum NRW.

Raised in Meckenheim, Germany, Thelma Buabeng completed acting training at Cologne's “Theater der Keller” and the Filmschauspielschule Berlin. Since her TV debut in the long-running soap Lindenstrasse in 2003, she has appeared in “Berlin Alexanderplatz”, “Hotel Adlon. A Family Saga”, several episodes of “Tatort” and the feature films “bestfriends”, “Heil”, “Punk Berlin 1982”. On stage, she performed in “The Supplicants” at the Thalia Theater in 2014, “Faust” at the Berliner Volksbühne in 2017 and Frank Castorf's “Les Misérables” at the Berliner Ensemble.

Thelma Buabeng produced her online comedy format "Tell Me Nothing From the Horse" as a response to dangerous racist, misogynist and otherwise narrow-minded views and perspectives. The brilliant comedian introduces racist pensioner Annemie to garishly made-up model Vivan and the bigoted Gladys to a lesbian rapper from Berlin's notorious Görlitz Park. In episode 5 Buabeng juxtaposes conflicting attitudes to homosexuality: “I just like women. I like pussies. And now? Who cares?” – “It's written in the bible. It is a sin!”
